The Australian Reptile Park at Somersby on the Central Coast of NSW, is playing host on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th July 2008 to a workshop to discuss and decide on the next steps in the conservation of the endangered iconic Tasmanian devil.

The workshop is a continuation of a recent four-day conference held in Hobart which was attended by all relevant government agencies and leading researchers fighting to save the Tasmanian devil.

The Reptile Park is part of an overarching program managed by the Australasian Association of Zoological Parks and Aquaria (ARAZPA) in partnership with the Tasmanian government to establish an “insurance population” on the Australian mainland.

The workshop will be held at the Australian Reptile Park, beginning on Tuesday morning. The two day conference with include a tour for all workshop attendees of the Tasmanian devil breeding facility currently in operation at the Park.
