An amphibian is often regarded as an evolutionary link between fish and reptiles. As a result, amphibians are dependant on water to some degree, more so than most reptiles. Types of amphibians include frogs, toads, salamanders and newts. Only the frogs occur naturally in Australia, although one species of toad has been introduced and is now widely distributed.
